Course Description

Most team leaders and managers accept that they should do coaching but are often unsure of when to coach, how to coach and how to manage the process and results of coaching. The truth is that coaching is very different from teaching, instructing or training and it requires a specific mind-set and a certain skill- set.
Coaching is a key tool for leaders and managers to assist team members to maximise their performance and results. It helps people to develop better skills and eliminate poor behaviours. Coaching is also an excellent way to enhance the skills of the team leader, as effective coaching requires demonstration.

Team leaders and managers who are involved in the growth and development of their team members make behaviour change happen. It requires them to continuously support and coach the development of their team members; positively impact learners before, during and after each element in a learning / development process and to effectively handle "coaching moments" so that team members teach themselves.

Great coaches motivate, teach and reinforce learning through their own good examples. They forge an environment that encourages life-long learning and a team that can accomplish far more than any individual player could!
Despite slogans that tell team members that they "are responsible for their own growth and development," the reality is clear - without motivation, support, and coaching from team leaders and managers, team members have a difficult time developing their talents on their own.

Through participation in the Coaching Job Skills workshop team leaders and managers will be able to plan and implement an effective coaching plan for team members that will enable them to maximise their growth and performance.
