•To enable participants to summarise information from source material
•To introduce participants to the layout and structure of reports and proposals
•To enable participants to write rough drafts
•To enable participants to edit and rewrite rough drafts
•To enable participants to produce well written final drafts

•Introduction to Report & Proposal Writing
•Intention, tone, style and register
•Audience awareness
•Writing a rough draft
•Editing rough drafts
•The re-writing process
•Using linking words and compound nouns
•The passive and active voice
•Summarising information and using bullet points
•Paragraphing
•Subject/verb agreement
•Grammar of report writing (active voice/passive voice, reported speech etc)
•Collocations
•Appropriacy: Formal vs. informal language

•Writing and formatting reports and proposals
•Using appropriate discourse
Coherence and Cohesion:
•Organising ideas into paragraphs
•Using discourse markers appropriately
